Living Without Violence Programmes (LWVP)

Our goal is to improve safety in our community. While we have a particular focus on supporting men to make healthy changes, we are also able to provide support and programmes for women, children and families.

We offer programmes in English, as well as Māori, Samoan and Tongan languages . Click on each of the below to find out more about these specific programmes.

Features of the LWVP:

  • Designed to teach skills required to express yourself and understand others safely and respectfully

  • Ministry of Justice approved

  • Runs for 18 weeks (42 hours)

  • 12 different groups spread over 6 days

  • Tongan and Samoan speaking groups

  • Age specific groups (eg. young men 18 - 22)

  • Making changes

  • Self management

  • Relationship and family wellbeing

  • Anger

  • Violence

  • Power and control

  • Alcohol and drugs


When are LWV Programmes available?

Our programmes are open, they run continuously so men can start at any time.


How do I complete a programme?
 

By participating in:

  • A 1:1 one hour initial interview (interview times are usually between 8am – 4pm)

  • A two and a half hour orientation evening (usually on a Monday evening 6pm – 8.30pm) before going in to a group

  • Weekly two and a half hour group sessions (15 in total)

  • An individual one hour completion interview (1 hour)
