An exciting new service is under development and we are now recruiting for volunteer Mentors.
We believe that by providing a Volunteer Mentoring Programme that will assist men to head in healthy new directions on release from prison, we are building social capital and enabling our community to function more effectively. By sharing the gift of your time and commitment with these men, you can be our partner in reaching our goal of empowering the participants of the programme to develop a sense of personal value and belonging.
Mentoring is about building an authentic two-way relationship. By supporting them to make positive social connections in safe environments, Mentors help enrich the lives of released men and empower them to re-connect successfully and permanently with their community. A Mentor is not an expert and both Mentors and those mentored can grow from the experience. Mentors make themselves available to talk during moments of uncertainty, crisis and self-doubt, those moments in their journey when the mentored ask, “Who cares enough to be there for me?” By walking alongside these men, Mentors makes a difference, generating conversations that empower the mentored to set and achieve goals, make decisions and solve problems.
